Abstract
A new species of genus Badis is described from the tributaries of Barak in Manipur. The species has a conspicuous black blotch covering the superficial part of the cleithrum above pectoral fin base, a black bloth between 3rd and 4th dorsal spine, a mid basal rounded black spot on caudal fin; 20 circumpeduncular scales, 31 vertebrae; 26-32 scales in lateral row. The species differs from Badis kanabos and B.badis by its narrower interorbital width and shallower body. It also differs from B. kanabos in having more circumpeduncular scales and from B. badis and B. chittagongls in having more vertebrae.
